Jonathan Barnes

Post-Doctoral Research Fellow

Jonathan Barnes is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Climate Change Adaptation. He is a critical human geographer of development focusing on the transformative potential of climate finance in social transitions. This has included research on public climate and development finance, insurance and debt instruments. Prior to joining UCL, he worked in research roles at the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and at the Commonwealth Secretariat. His PhD research, carried out at the London School of Economics (LSE), explored Green Climate Fund (GCF) project development in South Africa through a climate justice lens.
